Meet Chief. He is a very handsome pure bred male German Shepherd with your typical black and tan saddle markings. He is neutered, up to date on shots, de-wormed, heart worm negative, and even comes micro-chipped. He is approximately 6 years old, but thinks he is only two.
Chief would make a wonderful companion dog and bonds fast to loved ones. He loves people and kids of all ages, gets along great with other dogs, and has proven to be very gentle with my cat. He would do best with a family that is not gone all day, as he loves to be with his people. A family with a stay at home mom, a retired couple, or someone who works from home would be ideal. He would make a great companion for active people, but is also very content just hanging out inside the house.
Chief has a personality that is larger than life and a very sweet disposition. He is well mannered, behaves well in the house, house broken, and knows commands (sit, down, stay, come, up, give me five- he even knows right from left paw). He walks well on a leash and is very well socialized. He loves to play and can even keep up with my crazy border collies. He loves adventure and is a ride along kind of dog, so be subtle when you grab the keys, because he always wants to go with you. He travels well in a crate in the car, but gets anxious if crated in the house. He needs to be allowed both indoors and outdoors and requires at least a 6 foot fully fenced yard. Chief will alert you if someone is approaching the house, but may not make the best watch dog due to his friendly nature. However, like a typical GSD, I am certain he would defend his family without hesitation.
Chief is a rescue I picked up who appeared to have a long journey looking for his forever home. He wandered 40 miles from his last temporary residence because they just left him in the yard without the love and care he deserves. After doing some research I learned he spent most of his life with a loving family that couldn't keep him anymore. He needs to be with a family that will give him the love he deserves and he will prove to be loyal to his family forever.
A donation of $85 is requested to help cover veterinarian bills. Approved application and care contract required. Contact Jeannine Sibley at sibley@inreach.com or (909) 867-9802 if you are interested in adopting Chief.
